Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Snow Cap Aspidistra. In my opinion, this is the most dramatic of the variegated Aspidistras. The top third of each leaf has a sensational white tip bordered with a narrow green margin with a few faint green streaks in the middle. The effect is astonishing. But much like 'Asahi,' the poorer the soil, the more dramatic the variegation. As one can see from the picture, the effect is awesome. One thing about 'Asahi' and 'Snow Cap' is that the variegation is very stable and one doesn't have the reversions which occur with many of the streaked type variegations. In the last photo, one can see mature leaves which are totally green with no variegation because it was fertilized the previous year. But twelve months later with no variegation one can see the variegated leaves emerging from the soil.
