Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Swamp Leucothoe. (syn. Leucothoe populifolia) One of the finest native shrubs around. I can't say enough good about this plant. Outstanding foliage arranged along pendulous branches adds to its grace. The new leaves in the spring have a bronze cast, then hardening off to dark green. In the spring it produces 2-3 inch long racemes of lily-of-the-valley like flowers which hang from its branches. Interestingly this plant is native to the southeast corner of SC and FL. For some reason it skips over GA. It can be comfortably maintained at 8 to 10 ft., but we have one in our garden over 20 ft. Great mix with azaleas and rhododendrons and one of the finest fillers in flower arrangements.

Zones 6-9.
